Received a GST Notice? Here Is How to Respond Without Panic

ASMT-10, DRC-01, GSTR-3A — what common GST notices mean and the right way to reply to each.

A GST notice is not an accusation — it is a question from the department that deserves a precise, documented answer. The worst response is no response.

Common notice types

GSTR-3A is a reminder for non-filing of returns. ASMT-10 points out discrepancies found in scrutiny. DRC-01 is a show-cause notice proposing a demand. Each has its own reply form and time limit.

The right approach

First, read the notice carefully and note the deadline. Second, reconcile your books, returns and 2A/2B data for the period in question. Third, file a point-wise reply with supporting documents on the portal — vague replies invite escalation.

If the deadline is close or the demand is significant, get professional representation early. A well-drafted first reply often closes the matter before it reaches assessment or appeal.
